Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens is a beautiful sculpture garden that is rich with local history and is located south of Myrtle Beach on more than 9,000 acres. Open year-round, this Grand Strand treasure has been around since it opened in 1932 by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington; it was the only public sculpture garden in the country at that time. Brookgreen Gardens operates as a non-profit organization and is a National Historic Landmark. It seeks to keep in tact the natural landscape and more than 1,400 pieces of art located on the property. You can spend time meandering around the garden, while taking in the sites and learning about the history of the area from informational signs located around the property. Works such as "Don Quixote," "Fountain of the Muses," and "Diana of the Chase," are spread throughout the gardens. Brookgreen Gardens also offers a gift shop, dining, sculpture exhibitions and animal exhibits. Plan to spend a whole day at Brookgreen Gardens to make sure you see everything!
