Myrtle Beach Off-Season Attractions
Seasoned snowbirds and off-season holiday visitors alike are often curious about what the beach has to offer after the prime beach season has passed. Well, rest assured that despite the drop in tourism, the beach still offers plenty of attractions to keep you busy. Our Myrtle Beach accommodations are at the center of all the fun! Here are a few of our guests’ favorite off-season Myrtle Beach attractions:
Myrtle Beach Boardwalk – Located just a short drive south of Ocean Creek, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is a great place for an afternoon stroll or exciting night out on the town. This oceanfront stretch is just over a mile long and runs right through the bustling downtown area. Enjoy downtown live entertainment and events, attractions, arcades, dining, and so much more! Not to mention the killer oceanfront views. Just head to the boardwalk to see what all the buzz is about.
Alabama Theatre – Colorful costumes, elaborate props, and energetic live performances are just a few things that guests can look forward to at the Alabama Theatre. This popular venue is located right across the street at Barefoot Landing and offers several shows throughout the year, including an exciting Christmas production during the holiday season. Other off-season shows include “One The Show” and several guest appearances. Call (843) 272-1111 for more information.
Hollywood Wax Museum – New to the area for the 2014 season, the Hollywood Wax Museum provides a fresh, different experience for all of our area visitors. The attraction itself is actually home to three different attractions that can be enjoyed all at once or individually. The wax museum, the largest of the three, is home to all of your favorite idols. Other attractions here include Hannah’s Hall of Mirrors and Breakout – a Zombie Apocalypse experience. Call (843) 444-0091 for more information.
Myrtle Beach House of Blues – The Myrtle Beach House of Blues is Myrtle Beach’s premier venue for live entertainment. Both national and local bands perform at this bustling venue throughout the year, including the off-season, including acts like Cory Smith, Neon Trees, Seether, and Styx – to name just a few. The House of Blues is also home to several exciting events and Crossroads, an on-site restaurant with a menu designed by celebrity chef Aaron Sanchez. Call (843) 272-3000 for more information.
Brookgreen Gardens – This scenic attraction keeps visitors and locals flocking towards the south end of the strand throughout the year. Brookgreen Gardens offers more than 100 acres of lush gardens that are updated throughout the year to reflect current seasons and that showcase handmade sculptures scattered throughout the gardens. Brookgreen also hosts several events throughout the season including off-season favorites like Brew at the Zoo and Night of a Thousand Candles. Call (843) 235-6000 for more information.
Ripley’s Aquarium – Get in touch with your nautical side at the Ripley’s Aquarium! This Broadway at the Beach favorite offers two stories of under the sea adventures. Exhibits include Rainbow Rock, Rio Amazon, Ray Bay, and the famous Dangerous Reef. The aquarium is also home to an on-site café and gift shop and is undergoing renovations to build a penguin exhibit that will open spring 2015; call (843) 734-8888 for more information.
