ryan's turn

When our boys were 3 and 6 yrs. old, we vacationed in beautiful Myrtle Beach. Our condo was on the 18th floor. Our two boys were very competitive with each other with the 6 yr old (Josh) always seeming to win. This time the competition was for the who could get to the elevator first to push the button. We were coming back from dinner and Ryan (3 yr. old) bolted to the elevator first, pushed the button first! and the door immediately opened up. Before we all could get there he ran in the elevator and the door immediately closed! I panicked and froze thinking my little son was going up to the the 18th floor of the condo all by himself, probably scared to death and frightened not knowing what to do! I called "RYAN"! Well, a quick thinking hotel employee witnessed the scenerio and pushed the button again, the doors opened and there was my sweet little boy standing there innocently by himself! I was so relieved, of course I started crying tears of joy and relief! I was never so scared as I was at that moment... But all turned out well and we enjoyed the rest of our vacation. I must say I haven't been back to Myrtle Beach since - and would love to vacation there again with my sons (who are now 21 and 24!!) Sincerely, Karen Vannatten
