Memories

Nothing Can Keep Us Away

K.S. • Indianapolis, IN

My family has been coming to Ocean Creek for as long as I can remember. Every year since I was born, besides the year my sister was born, we've come and stayed. My dad comes to the ASCUE conference in June; it's what I look forward to every year, starting the second I get home from the last trip. We've made so many memories here, and I consider it my second home; I love how I feel so comfortable here. Last year, however, we hit a bump in the road, literally, on our journey down here. Our engine blew, and we were stuck in a foreign town in North Carolina. Having no way to get to Myrtle Beach, being a Saturday night, we had to stay there. I was heartbroken and cried many times. Finally, we created a plan that could get us down to Ocean Creek with time for my Dad to present and enough to enjoy our vacation. Although it caused everyone in my family much stress, we finally got to Ocean Creek, which helped us relax. It amazed me how much we all relied on this trip to cast away the school-year worries. We have our regular routine in Myrtle Beach: beach, lunch, pool, then going out to eat and a different event every night. We've been so many times, I even wrote a tiny book, for the family, with a mixture of all the years together. All in all, Ocean Creek is something I obsess about from about March until June, my home away from home, and my place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
