My mother

Cindy Lafferty • Moorestown, NJ

My parents moved to Ocean Creek Garden Homes in 1988 after they retired.  My mother loved the ocean, and she would drive down to the pond in her golf cart every day to feed the ducks.  My sisters and I would visit them at least twice a year, gladly coming down to enjoy the beautiful scenery at Ocean Creek.  My father, Fred Wian, became President of the Homeowners association, where they were instrumental in improving the walkways and beauty of the grounds, including stopping building in the bluffs and next to the main office.

My fondest memory is bringing the kids down for Easter vacation, and having our own Easter egg hunt in the grasses.  The kids were worried that the Easter bunny might not find them if they weren't home, but we explained to them that Grandmom knew the Easter bunny, and would tell him just where to find them.  He did!!  The weather was gorgeous and we had a great time, as usual.

My mother passed away in 2001 from cancer.  She stayed at Ocean Creek right until the end, because her neighbors here and at her church were wonderful to her.  We all miss her very much.  We continue our yearly vacation at Ocean Creek every summer, mainly because it doesn't feel like summer until we've been there.  But vacations with Grandmom were the best, and we always think of her when we're there, enjoying the beauty of Ocean Creek.
