Good Times at the Creek With Our Friends

Jennifer DeRoche • Wake Forest, NC

My husband and I first went to Ocean Creek about 15 years ago and thought it was very nice and we would hopefully end up staying there again.  However, the family members we vacationed with required bigger and bigger accomodations so we didn't get to stay there.

However, in 2006 we decided to go to North Myrtle Beach with two other families that are good friends of ours.  Each family had two kids, so it had to be a family friendly place that would make summer reservations for less than seven nights.  While exploring many options online, Ocean Creek really stood out as unique.  I kept reading reviews and many people wrote about how entertained their kids were by the creek.  I checked out the specials and it was the best deal anywhere.  So I booked it.

That turned out to be a wonderful vacation.  The three kids ages 4-6 all had a wonderful time checking out the wild life in and near the creek, swimming in the creek and running in the surf.  They had never been so well behaved at the beach before and the parents had never been able to relax that much on vacation.  We also loved our awesome southern view from the South Tower!!!  Our only incident was one of the four year olds chasing a kite down the beach and being lost for a short time.  We spent the whole year looking back at the hundreds of pictures our friend had taken.  We kept looking at our spot on the beach right between the surf and the creek and longed to return.  The next summer in 2007 we went twice!  Our five nights in June and Labor Day weekend and loved every minute.  (Except of course when one child had to get stitches in his toe for kicking a crab.)

In 2008 we all returned again for another wonderful June vacation.  The six kids now being strong swimmers were even more independent and the adults got to relax even more.  The moms enjoyed Pina Coladas overlooking the beach and the dads played Bocci Ball and not one of the kids wondered off or managed to get hurt.  We especially enjoyed hanging out at the snackbar pool at night, letting the kids swim as much as possible.  We did not all make it back for Labor Day, but my husband and I did with our kids.

This year the economy stinks, but we all saved up and will still be having our June get together at "The Creek".  We can not imagine going anywhere else and are counting down the days.
