Ocean Creek Hosts Annual SCCNA Conference

By Ocean Creek

Ocean Creek has hosted the South Carolina Crisis Negotiators Association’s annual training conference since its inception in 1993. This year is the 20th Anniversary celebration of SCCNA’s founding and the first year the group has had the honor of hosting the National Crisis Negotiators Association Board Meeting.

The conference features law enforcement participation from not only South Carolina counties but various states as well.

The group’s mission according to their website is to encourage the exchange of ideas and information and to assist with research and development of new methods and techniques.

“It is an honor and pleasure for Ocean Creek Resort, Inc. to host such an important conference as SC Crisis Negotiators,” said Sabrina Hilliard, our General Manager here at Ocean Creek Resort.  “We truly feel that we are playing a huge part in their opportunity to come together so that they can focus on growing and learning in their field.  We look forward to many more years of welcoming them back into our home.”

North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley and Horry County Council Chairman Mark Lazarus presented a joint proclamation to the association to honor them on their anniversary, for hosting the NCNA Board Meeting and for partnering with Ocean Creek, located in the North Myrtle Beach area of Horry County.

The 2013 conference was held from October 9 – 11 and featured presentations and discussions on suicide negotiation, hostage and barricade situations, prison incidents and more.  Law enforcement officers from as far away as Arizona and California attended this event, co-sponsored by the FBI.

The local news, including WBTW 13 and WMBF 10, stopped by on Wednesday for the proclamation.

Next year’s conference is October 7 – 10, 2014, again at Ocean Creek.
