The Fourth of July is less than a month away and it’s time to start planning how you will celebrate our independence. If you are lucky enough to be spending this all-American holiday in Myrtle Beach you will find no shortage of exciting local events to participate in. Whether you prefer a low key day at the beach or want to indulge in finger-licking cuisine, use our Fourth of July roundup to plan your Independence Day activities!

We will be hosting our very own 4th of July celebration right here on property. Taking place from 5 to 9pm at Water Oaks, our celebration will feature live entertainment from 5:30 to 8:30pm and a variety of delicious all-American food items for sale.

Our celebration menu will include:

  • Hot dogs
  • Hamburgers
  • Fried chicken
  • Pulled pork BBQ
  • Fried popcorn shrimp
  • Potato wedges
  • Baked beans
  • Corn on the cob
  • Green beans
  • Tossed salad
  • Potato salad
  • Cole slaw
  • Macaroni salad
  • Watermelon
  • Strawberry shortcake
  • Apple cobbler
  • Ice cream

Adults are $15 and children are $10 (not including tax). Come join us for our fun, on-site celebration!

Independence Day Race at Market Common
Kick start your Independence Day celebrations with a festive race! The annual Independence Day race starts bright and early at 7am. Guests can participate in either a 5k or an 8k time chipped race or a 1 mile walk. Participants in this festive event are encouraged to dress to impress in their best red, white, and blue as they race around the scenic Market Common complex. There will be pre and post-race activities for participants and their families and friends that you won’t want to miss! You can register in advance or the day off.

Cupcake Eating Contest – Croissants Bistro & Bakery
Get your fill of the Grand Strand’s best cupcake at Croissants Bistro & Bakery. Located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, this popular local eatery is hosting this annual event from 2pm – 5pm. This event will feature live entertainment, face painting, games, cupcake decorating, and much more! At 4pm sharp, entrants will have 4 minutes to consume as many cupcakes as they can. The winner will take home a prize pack full of gifts and certificates from local attractions and restaurants (a gift valued at over $500). Call (843) 448-2253 for more information.

Spend an Afternoon at the Beach
What could be a better way to celebrate your freedom than enjoying a carefree day soaking up the sun along our sandy shores? Ocean Creek Resort boasts an expansive secluded beach right in our backyard, making slipping your toes into the sand almost effortless. If you are in one of our oceanfront towers simply step right out onto the beach or if you are in any of our other accommodations just enjoy a short walk or a complimentary shuttle to our oceanfront Beach Club, just steps from the ocean. Pack a picnic and a few beach games and make an entire day of it!

Fireworks Display
It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without fireworks and there are plenty of places along the Grand Strand to enjoy a spectacular display. Guests who don’t want to go far can head right across the street to Barefoot Landing to see fireworks over the lake at 10:15 pm. Other fireworks display locations include Broadway at the Beach (10pm), Second Avenue Pier (10pm), Surfside Beach (10pm), and Murrells Inlet’s Veteran’s Pier (10pm).

The possibilities are vast in way of entertainment and festivities especially on the 4th of July in Myrtle Beach.  Celebrate freedom, family and fun at Ocean Creek and at the beach this summer.
